There probably is a philosophy behind the recipe creations.

Basically, ingredients are queen.

The fun part of the game is to make up something absolutely delicious and wholesome using whatever is currently the freshest in the several markets I can walk to from my San Francisco apartment.

The game can also be: Make something really good from what's left in the house after most of the week has gone by.

Or another game, someone is coming over for a meal, what can I make that they will simply love.

Most of the recipes on this site are included by request from friends who want to make some good Jade Cafe food at home

Please enjoy them and adapt them to your tastes. Also, "for best results" read the Notes on Ingredients sections of the recepies. They have lots of chatty information about the ingredients I use and where in San Francisco I get them. Since ingredients are queen, compromise here is to be frowned upon.
